Potty training... I think I am going to actively try to potty train Lauren, I never thought I would do it this early I always pictured starting to try at around 2 1/2 but she is really interested. I guess I can give it a go and if it doesn't work this time, no harm done!
My Mom recommended a book called potty training in 1 day, has anyone used this method, if not how did you go about potty training? I bought her some pull-ups that get cold when she wets them and now she wants a new pair every time she pees which I am realizing is an expensive endeavor unless I get my butt in gear and actually get her potty trained. I would love to hear what worked best for everyone!

A friend of mine recommended this book and it totally worked. Just plan on taking 3 days to really just stay home and focus on the bathroom. At first I was a little skeptical, there were a LOT of accidents at first, but by the 3rd day he figured it out! It took 2 months to master both with no accidents, but now he's doing great, with only a surprise accident here and there. He still sleeps in a diaper at night though, I figure it's enough for now until we get through our latest transition. :)

My sister just kept her daughter naked for a couple of days until she figured it out. That worked for her. But, I tried that I did not like all the messes around the house. Then I just didn't do anything and she just kinda figured it out by three. I don't know if I recommend that method, but it worked for us since Addi wasn't all that interested in it. And she is now almost four and just stopped wearing diapers to bed!
Ok! My saga . . .
We bought Kaiya her potty at 14 months and just let it sit around. The night we bought it, she went #2 in it, asked to go! My sil (recommended it, but said to do it as a 1st birthday present - not my style). So, after that first night, interest wained and she played on it, sat on, it etc. For her 2nd b-day, my aunt gave her pull up that get cold when they are wet!! DIDN'T WORK!! It was just another diaper!! So, I bought the really think underwear from the baby section, let her run in those for a few days and if outside let her go bare butted so, she could see what it felt like pre- you know what! Sort of worked, but not consistent.
So, I opted for what the aunt who gave me pullup said worked for her daughters boys! A CANDY MACHINE!! Anytime she used the bathroom, she got to get a penny, put it in the machine and get skittles . . . she decided she didn't like skittles, so I restocked with M&M's. This drew greater attention with pee pee! So, after a little while with the candy machine, same said aunt sent me a sticker chart for potty training.
Kaiya wanted COWGIRL BOOTS!! So, I told her she could get cowgirl boots when we filled the sticker chart all the way up! 30 times to the potty, but it had to be #2s for a sticker! Yeah! We had number one down, it was the #2 we would go hide and do!
Here is my POST POTTY TRAINING REVELATION!!
Initially, it is LESS about LAUREN being trained and MORE ABOUT YOU and WES being trained!! I discovered I had to remember to take her to the potty or it would be an accident!
Initially, every half hour I took her to the potty! And if I was running an errand, I took her before we left! When we arrived at a store, I would take her. After a week, I moved up to EVERY HOUR take her to the potty! I DITCHED PULL UPs, just had her wear THINK PANTIES for a while . . . at least if it started it would catch a little! I kept a clean pair of PANTIES and PANTS in my car! We used them more than ONCE!! You just keep pushing the time back! Soon, she realized she needs to go!!
So, my advice, TRAIN YOURSELF TO TAKE HER TO THE POTTY - - and REWARD HER WHEN SHE GOES!! It really is ALL ABOUT YOU DECIDING TO DO IT!!
All I have to say is good luck! I just finally did it with Natali and she had just turned three. It took about 4-5 days. It was the hardest/most frustrating thing I have EVER done as a parent. There were lots of tears (hers and mine) and I cleaned my fair share of wet accidents. I was tired of spending money on diapers. And so when we used the last one I told her no more diapers. I let her pick out some underwear and I bought a bunch of candy/prizes. I showed them to her and told her she only gets them if she goes potty. Anyway...good luck!
Good luck with it! I sat Hailey on her potty and let her watch movies for a week and that was that! Not very "motherly", but it worked! But whatever you do, once you start, don't stop!
